Return to the Heart of a Child

Dear Friends,

Today I spent time teaching heart coherence to a group of elementary school students—and I was blown away.

Within minutes, these kids were able to shift from frustration or nervousness into calm, joyful presence. They didn’t overthink. They didn’t resist. They just breathed, felt into their hearts, and let go.

One student said, “I feel like I’m floating in happiness.”

And it got me thinking… as adults, why is it so hard for us to do the same?

Somewhere along the way, we traded in our childlike openness for control, our joy for busyness, and our ability to let go for the illusion that holding on protects us.

But freedom is found in returning to the heart of a child.

Children don’t dwell on yesterday. They don’t spiral in what-ifs. They feel fully. They forgive quickly. They move on.

So today, I invite you to soften. To become young at heart again.

Try this: Practice heart-focused breathing:

  1. Focus your attention on your heart.

  1. Breathe in and out slowly and gently, a little deeper than usual.

  1. Find an easy rhythm that feels good—and let yourself be here now.

No need to force anything. Just breathe, and feel.

Return to the present moment with the heart of a child—where everything is new, everything is possible, and joy is right here waiting.

Blessings,

Ryan Justin Jackson
